it burns when I conjugate

I am certain that it is only coincidence that April is both National Poetry Month and STD Awareness Month

On the poetry front, I have some big things in the works for this month. I will elaborate on some of them soon. Details are still being worked out, conspiracies are being hatched, complacency is being overthrown.

In spite of how busy I am with these new endeavors, I would like to try to keep up with the April Poem-A-Day challenge. I don't normally share hurried writing exercises, so I will be posting those as friends-only posts. I doubt they will be very accomplished (writing is not easy for me, I labor over edits and rewrites for awhile, before they stop embarrassing me), but I hope to have thirty decent ideas at the end of the month, that I can go back and work on, until something interesting happens.

well, remember that you are not only attending slam

you are also attending slam with everyone that they have ever attended slam with, before you.

it's understandable how you say you labor over things, but everything you write to me is really interesting so I'm always happy to get the chance. where are the first 4?

the best ideas come to me when I am trying to fall asleep. sometimes parts of those never ending loops actually become something. the challenge is remembering my idea or allowing myself to drift off. usually sleep wins out. whatever sticks around in the morning, or in dreams, is then subjected to weeks or months of thinking about the idea and then something similar to surgical extraction. seems like i'm not letting anything out without a fight lately.

today's creativity re-hab takes form as digging out land for a few garden boxes, making my dog's food from leftovers (too lazy to drive to the store) and possibly forcing myself to commit colors to paper. i'm hoping i'll be so tired after hours with the shovel that i can't argue myself out of writing or drawing.
